How We Study

This site approaches Scripture from a historicist, Seventh-day Adventist perspective. We do not ask readers to accept a teaching because a denomination holds it. Every doctrine presented here should be tested from the Bible in context. Where an interpretation is distinctly Adventist or disputed among Christians, we identify it clearly.

Scripture first. Christ at the center. Interpretations identified honestly. History documented. Difficult questions welcomed.

Examine questions and criticisms of Seventh-day Adventism — including salvation, 1844, Ellen White, and the treatment of other Christians.

We begin with the Bible in context and compare Scripture with Scripture. We reject date-setting for the Second Coming. We seek to treat people of all religious traditions respectfully. Our goal is not fear but preparation through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation by grace through faith remains central. We reject sensationalism, conspiracy claims, and attacks on individuals or religious groups.

Speaking the truth in love

Speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). Answer the question plainly, give the reasons, and treat the person with dignity. Honest doubts, grief, and fear deserve patient care, not shame. We do not soften biblical convictions, claim certainty beyond the evidence, or judge a person's heart or salvation.

We carefully distinguish

  1. 1

    Scripture

    What the Bible explicitly states.

  2. 2

    Inference

What can reasonably be concluded from Scripture.

  3. 3

    Interpretation

Historical and prophetic applications, identified as interpretation.

  4. 4

    Historical evidence

    Documented events and sources.

  5. 5

    Disagreement

Where Christians or Adventist scholars differ.

  6. 6

    Speculation

Ideas we will not present as certainty.

Our order of evidence

Bible first. Historical and contextual evidence second. Adventist interpretation third. Ellen G. White's writings as support where relevant — never as the primary proof for a doctrine meant to be established from Scripture.
