The biblical explanation

Christ has sheep in every fold

Jesus said, "Other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring" (John 10:16). Peter learned at Cornelius's house that "God is no respecter of persons: but in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him" (Acts 10:34–35). Paul wrote of Gentiles who, without the law, show its work written in their hearts (Romans 2:14–15). God's family is larger than any denomination.

Revelation 18:4 settles the question

The call "Come out of her, my people" (Revelation 18:4) is addressed to God's own people who are still inside Babylon — the symbol of confused religion. You cannot call your people out of a place unless your people are in it. This single verse rules out the idea that Adventists regard themselves as the only true Christians: the final message of the Bible assumes devoted believers exist throughout the churches being warned.

Membership saves no one

Adventist teaching is explicit that salvation is not attached to membership in any organization, including its own. A person is saved by trusting Christ, not by joining a church; and a person inside the right church with no faith in Christ is as lost as anyone else. The judgment studies in this library make the same point: works and affiliation are evidence, never the basis, of salvation (Ephesians 2:8–9).

What Scripture clearly says

  • God has people inside Babylon whom He calls His own (Revelation 18:4).
  • In every nation, those who fear God are accepted by Him (Acts 10:34–35).
  • Salvation is by grace through faith, not of works (Ephesians 2:8–9).
